early morning routine

Early Morning

My morning routine is an incredibly important part of my daily life and sets the tone for the rest of my day. I get up at 6am every morning, have 1 to 2 glasses of warm water, sometimes I add half a lemon- the lemon gets your liver / kidney and digestive system going.

Then, I start with a revitalizing 10-minute stretching session to get my body moving. In those 10 mins, I spend about 5 mins jumping on my Bellicon bouncer.

After stretching, I go outside with my little cavapoo puppy and take a few moments to express gratitude, giving a warm greeting to the sun which helps energize my mind, body, and soul.

Next, I have a 16oz glass of nutrient-rich celery juice. I wait about 30 minutes after drinking the glass of water to have my celery juice- allowing enough time for the water to fully hydrate my body while I get my daughter ready for school.

About 5-10 minutes before breakfast I also take this to help with my gut:

My breakfast consists either of a mixture of seasonal fruits (don’t forget wild berries!), oatmeal, Greek yogurt with healthy granola, or boiled eggs with avocado and a piece of toast.

One of these options will provide me with a perfect balance of protein, fiber, and healthy fats to power me through the morning.

I’m currently taking these as well:

After this, I have a morning workout at the gym, this helps me start my day with a boost of energy and focus. I find that working out in the morning helps me feel more motivated and productive.

Whether I’m lifting weights or doing pilates, I always leave the gym feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the day ahead.

Around 11am, I’ll head to the kitchen and start making a fresh, delicious green smoothie.

This smoothie is not only nutritious, but also helps me with an extra energy boost. I start by adding a base of water or organic coconut water and then add a variety of leafy greens. All except kale!

According to Healthline, eating raw kale can interfere with thyroid hormone synthesis and crowd out the iodine needed for proper thyroid function. Dave Asprey “the father of biohacking” also recommends staying away from kale because it’s full of oxalates (oxalic acid) and can form kidney stones.

powders

Finally, I add  a scoop of different powders: maca powder, wild blueberry powder, organic Amla fruit powder (for skin, hair) , “Inbloom” green protein powder and the SuperFood ultra blend from Dr. Schulze’s.

Despite some warnings about combining powders, I haven’t had any issues but again, all bodies are different and only do what works best for you.

The most important thing is the smoothie must be green – no fruits!

This is my favorite smoothie book:

Benefits of a Green Smoothie

Green smoothies are a popular, delicious and convenient way to incorporate more greens into your diet. Not only are they packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, but they can also help boost energy levels, improve digestion, and support weight loss.

Greens, such as spinach, and collard greens, are nutrient-dense foods that are low in calories but high in vitamins and minerals, such as Vitamin K, Vitamin C, and Iron.

They are also rich in antioxidants, which protect the body against free radicals and oxidative stress. These free radicals can cause damage to cells, which adds to the aging process and can lead to various health problems and diseases.

I love green smoothies because they help improve my digestion. Fiber is essential for a healthy digestive system, and greens are a great source of fiber. When blended into a smoothie, the fiber is broken down into smaller pieces, making it easier for my body to absorb the nutrients.

And lastly for those looking to lose weight, greens are low in calories and high in fiber, this will help keep you feeling full for longer periods of time & by replacing high-calorie foods with green smoothies, you can reduce your overall calorie intake and lose weight in a healthy, sustainable way.

Lunch & Dinner

As the day progresses, I’ll make a light and simple lunch at 2pm, usually consisting of a green salad accompanied by a handful of nuts. I also like to add wild Alaskan salmon, sardines or bison meat to my lunches.

To keep my energy levels steady throughout the day, I treat myself to a revitalizing cup of green tea or matcha tea at 4pm, complemented by a small piece of 70% pure dark chocolate for a dose of healthy antioxidants and polyphenols.

But not every day! I exercise moderation when consuming nuts and chocolate, as I’ve noticed a tendency for them to cause an increase in fat if I indulge too frequently.

For my body type, I am 5’4″ and 114 lbs, to maintain optimal health, I aim to consume between 1500 to 1800 calories daily, though I don’t obsess over counting every calorie.

Instead, I’ve developed a natural intuition for my body’s nutritional needs, allowing me to easily make informed decisions regarding my diet without needing to check for calories.

When it comes to dinner, I follow the sunset principle, circadian rhythm. I have my last meal by 6pm in winter and a bit later, around 7pm, in summer.

For dinner I’ll do a bean, lentil or veggie soup with steamed veggies like broccoli or asparagus- The key is to have a variety of different vegetable in your diet. I’ll also have some quinoa or barley and add a small piece of protein if I didn’t have it for lunch.

I highly recommend this book by Will Bulsiewicz:

After diner I avoid snacks and stick to only drinking water until I wake up the next morning.

Don’t forget to drink quality filtered water, half your weight in oz!

I am 114 lbs and drink 57 oz of filtered water every day. I also add in one glass of electrolyte water for proper hydration and take a great number of supplements.

By following this regimen, I find that I am able to maintain my focus on my health goals and stay on track.
